At Tenterfields Primary Academy, our Religious Education (RE) curriculum is designed to be inclusive, challenging, and broader than any single faith. We aim to provide our pupils with a comprehensive understanding of world religions and non-religious worldviews, fostering respect, empathy, and critical thinking in our diverse society.

While we believe that RE contributes significantly to our pupils' personal development and mutual understanding, we fully respect and recognise the legal rights of parents and carers regarding this subject.

In accordance with Department for Education (DfE) guidelines, parents and carers have the right to withdraw their children from all or part of the Religious Education curriculum. * No Reason Required: You do not have to provide a reason or justification for choosing to withdraw your child.

  • Flexible Options: Withdrawal can be total (from all RE lessons and collective worship) or partial (from specific topics, holy days, or visits to places of worship).

  • No Disadvantage: Any child withdrawn from RE will not be penalised or disadvantaged in any way.

We warmly invite any parents or carers who are considering withdrawing their child to contact us for an informal discussion before making a final decision.

Often, concerns arise from misconceptions about what is actually taught. We are always happy to share our curriculum plans, resources, and lesson overviews so you can see exactly what your child will experience. However, please note that this discussion is entirely optional, and your right to withdraw will always be respected regardless.
