Absence and Illness

Absence & Illness Guidance for Parents

Attendance & Wellbeing

Every Day Matters: Attendance is vital for learning, but your child’s health and wellbeing are our top priorities.

Minimising Disruptions: Over 50 million school days were lost nationally due to illness last year, so we aim to work together to keep children healthy and learning safely in school.

Reporting Absences via Studybugs

Morning Deadline: Please report all absences by 8:30am, every day your child is unwell.

Use Studybugs: Register and report via the free Studybugs App or website to instantly update our attendance team and safeguarding leads.

Following NHS Health Guidelines

"Is My Child Too Ill for School?" Guidance: Refer to the official NHS advice to determine whether your child can attend school with mild illnesses like minor colds or coughs.

Open Communication & Support

Unsure? Speak to Us: If you are ever uncertain whether your child is well enough to attend school, please contact our team at 0121 289 5020. We are here to talk it through and support you.

Informing Us of Needs: Keep us updated on medical appointments, chronic conditions, or any health concerns so we can support your child in school.

Prevention & Immunisations

Hygiene Habits: Simple daily routines like regular handwashing and good respiratory hygiene help stop the spread of seasonal bugs in our community.

Vaccination Support: We support NHS seasonal flu and routine childhood vaccination programmes to protect our pupils and keep our school healthy throughout the year.
