Curriculum and Learning

At Tenterfields Nursery, we are dedicated to providing every child with a well-rounded and stimulating education that supports their growth and development. Our approach is designed to balance both child-led and adult-led activities, ensuring children are engaged, curious, and progressing at their own pace.

Our nursery environment:

  • Promotes kindness, sharing, and the building of positive relationships.
  • Encourages independence and the development of ideas, helping children become resilient, confident learners and critical thinkers.
  • Provides access to both indoor and outdoor learning every day, allowing children to explore and learn in different environments.
  • Offers play-based activities tailored to each child’s ideas, interests, and individual needs.

We place equal importance on all areas of the curriculum, ensuring learning is fun, exciting, creative, and challenging. Our daily routine includes family group time, phonics and maths sessions, and activities to develop fine motor skills through our much-loved ‘Dough Disco’. There's always time for singing and storytelling, with a special book chosen each week that we explore in detail. Our topic-based themes connect all aspects of the nursery environment, making learning cohesive and engaging.

Children also enjoy a weekly PE session, so we ask that they wear comfortable clothes and trainers, and refrain from wearing earrings on these days.

As part of Tenterfields Primary Academy, our nursery benefits from the school’s fantastic facilities and takes part in special events and rewards like Praise Assembly and Hot Chocolate Fridays with the Headteacher.

We can’t wait to welcome your child to Tenterfields Nursery, where they’ll learn, grow, and thrive in a supportive and nurturing environment!
