It’s been an exciting few weeks in Year 6, with pupils diving into a range of engaging activities across the curriculum.
In English, the class has been captivated by Boy by Roald Dahl. They’ve loved the opportunity to choose their own chapters and write diary entries from Roald’s perspective. Some were genuinely shocked to read about how he received the cane at just nine years old – a real eye-opener that sparked thoughtful discussions about school life in the past.

In maths, we’ve been working incredibly hard on long division. The children have shown great perseverance, and it’s fantastic to see their confidence growing as they make excellent progress tackling these tricky calculations.
History lessons have also been full of surprises! We’ve been exploring the history of prisons and the different types of punishments given to criminals. Many were amazed to discover that some criminals were sent all the way to Australia as punishment – an incredible insight into life in the past.
PE has been a fun challenge too, as the children have been learning how to do handstands and cartwheels. It’s wonderful to see their determination and the joy they get from improving their balance and coordination.
Year 6 have been working hard, learning lots, and having fun along the way – have a lovely half term and we will see you again in November!
