Year 6 Blog - 20.06.2025

18th June 2025

Year 6 have been learning about the circulatory and respiratory systems in Science. Did you know that they work together to keep us alive? The heart pumps blood around the body, delivering oxygen from the lungs. The lungs take in oxygen when we breathe and remove carbon dioxide. Blood vessels carry nutrients and oxygen to cells. These systems are vital for energy, growth, and keeping every part of the body healthy.

In History, we have been learning about about London has changed over time. London started as a few small villages, until the Romans came and built Londinium, a walled city. Later, the Tudors made it bigger, and William the Conqueror built the famous Tower of London. The Gunpowder Plot could have changed everything, but it failed. Then came the terrible Plague. We’re really excited to learn more about what happened next!

Gazebo Theatre came in to do a workshop with us on hate crime. This is what Lexi and Alexis had to say, ‘Today, we had a workshop and we learnt what hate incidents and hate crimes were. Ben did some scenes and we had to say if they were a hate incident or hate crime. We had to walk and stop and act out an emotion of what the person might be feeling. In groups we had to act out our own scenarios. Lots of fun.’
