Year 6 Blog - 18.06.2026

18th June 2026

What a fantastic few weeks it has been in Year 6!

In History, we have been learning about the fascinating story of London through time. We have explored some of the most significant events that shaped the city, including invasions of ancient London, outbreaks of plague, the Great Fire of London and the Gunpowder Plot. The children have enjoyed discovering how these events changed the lives of Londoners and helped create the city we know today.

We have also really got our teeth into our leavers' production! The children have been working incredibly hard learning their lines, songs and stage directions. This week, rehearsals have stepped up a gear as we have started using props, helping everyone bring their characters to life. We are very excited to share our performance with you soon.

In French, we have been developing our language skills by learning to count beyond 20 and practising how to say and write the date. The children have shown great enthusiasm and confidence as they continue to expand their French vocabulary.

Our Art lessons have focused on creating textured portraits inspired by the artist Mike Barrett. The children experimented with a range of techniques and materials to add depth, texture and personality to their artwork, producing some fantastic final pieces.

Finally, we would like to say a huge thank you to all the dads, dudes and other special adults who joined us for our Dads, Dudes and Donuts celebration. We loved sharing this special event with you and hope you enjoyed spending time with us, as well as watching our performance. The Father's Day cards created by the children were made with great care, and we hope they brought a smile to the faces of those who received them.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to sharing more of our Year 6 adventures with you soon!
