Year 6 Blog - 17.07.2026

17th July 2026

What a week it has been! If you’ve noticed your children sleeping a little sounder or looking a bit more exhausted than usual, you can blame us. We have packed a term's worth of memories, laughter, and maybe a few tears into five incredible days.

As our Year 6 cohort prepares to take their next big step into secondary school, they have spent their final week proving exactly why they are such a special group of young people. Here is a look back at a week we won’t soon forget.

🎭 West End, Eat Your Heart Out!

The week kicked off with our spectacular Year 6 production, "I'm an 11-Year-Old... Get Me Out of Here!"

To say the children excelled would be an understatement. They took to the stage like seasoned, professional actors. From perfect comedic timing to project-to-the-back-row vocals, they brought the house down. Thank you to everyone who came to watch; the energy in the room was electric, and the children were absolute stars.

🍔 Mocktails, Music, and Memories: The Ultimate BBQ

On Wednesday, the school field was transformed into the ultimate festival zone for our Year 6 Leavers' BBQ. It’s safe to say the children celebrated in style!

The afternoon was a non-stop whirlwind of fun, featuring:

  • Mocktails Galore: Fancy, fruity drinks (with extra umbrellas, of course) served all afternoon.

  • A Silent Disco: Watching seventy children dance in complete silence to three different songs is a core memory we will cherish forever.

  • The Karaoke Stage: Some questionable vocal choices, but 100% effort and crowd participation!

  • Bouncy Castles & Photo Booths: Capturing silly poses and core memories that will last a lifetime.

🏆 Sports Day & Showing True Character

In between the partying, we also squeezed in their final primary school Sports Day. The determination, sportsmanship, and sheer encouragement the children showed to one another was beautiful to see.

But what made us even prouder was what happened on Thursday. After a week of being celebrated, Year 6 dedicated their afternoon to giving back to the school community. They rolled up their sleeves and spent the day tidying, organizing, and helping out around the school. It was a wonderful demonstration of their maturity and gratitude.

😢 A Tearful, Beautiful Farewell

Finally, Friday brought us to our Leavers’ Assembly.

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."

There wasn't a dry eye in the house—among students, parents, or teachers! Watching the children look back at how far they’ve come since their very first day of school was incredibly moving. They have grown from quiet, hesitant infants into confident, kind, and capable leaders.

A Huge Thank You

To you, the parents and carers: thank you for your unwavering support, your partnership, and for trusting us with your brilliant children over the years. We are so incredibly proud of the class of Year 6.

We wish them all the luck in the world as they head off to secondary school. We will miss them immensely, but we know they are ready to fly!

Have a wonderful, well-deserved summer break!
