Year 6 Blog - 10.10.2025

10th October 2025

Year 6 have had another busy and exciting few weeks in class!

We’ve been continuing our class book, Boy by Roald Dahl, and the children have really enjoyed discovering more about Dahl’s mischievous pranks and his Norwegian roots. It’s been fascinating to learn how his childhood experiences shaped the wonderful stories we all know and love today.

In science, our focus has been on Charles Darwin. The children have carried out research to find out about his life, his incredible voyage on the HMS Beagle, and his important contributions to the theory of evolution.

In writing, Year 6 have been preparing to write their own diary entries from Roald Dahl’s point of view, inspired by the events in Boy. We can’t wait to read their finished pieces — they’re already full of character and creativity!

The children have also been working extremely hard in the lead-up to, and during, their mock SATs this week. We are so proud of the effort and progress they’ve made — their determination and positive attitude have really shone through.

We’re also looking forward to welcoming parents next week for our Board Game, Pioneer, and “Are You Smarter than a 10-Year-Old?” workshop. It promises to be a fun and engaging event for everyone!
