We’ve been up to lots of more exciting things in year 5 over the last two weeks including building bridges in DT, writing a letter to Mr Griffiths and researching all about Isaac Newton and his discoveries.
In English, we have just finished writing and editing our persuasive letters to Mr Griffiths to purchase Bala Sports footballs as they are fair trade. We have explored child labour and the negative aspects of it and decided to write to Mr Griffiths to persuade him to help put an end to this.
In Maths, we have spent the last two weeks learning about short and long multiplication and whilst this proved to be a little challenging at first, year 5 have been so resilient and are now much more confident with both of these methods.
We have had lots of fun in DT looking at different types of bridges including arch, beam and truss bridges. We even had a go at making our own truss bridges using skewers and matchsticks and the results were phenomenal!
