17th April 2026
It’s been a whirlwind first week back! The corridors are buzzing again, and the energy in the classrooms has been absolutely fantastic. We’ve hit the ground running with some brilliant new topics, and the children have already shown such a wonderful "ready to learn" attitude.
Here is a peek at what we’ve been up to:
❄️ English: Chilling with the Emperors
In our English lessons, we’ve begun exploring the world of non-chronological reports. To sharpen our skills, we are using "sentence stacking" to build a detailed report all about the magnificent Emperor Penguin. We can’t wait to show you our finished pieces—they’re looking "cool" already!
📐 Maths: Moving and Mapping
We’ve been getting technical in Maths this week by diving into coordinates and translations. The children have been busy plotting:
Single points
Line segments
Complex shapes
They’ve been working hard to slide these shapes across the grid with precision. It’s been great to see their spatial reasoning skills in action!
🏺 History: Discovering Ancient Greece
Our time machine has landed in Ancient Greece! We have started identifying the key events that shaped this incredible civilization. From epic battles to the birth of democracy, there is so much to uncover.
📖 Story Time: Who Let the Gods Out?
Our new whole-class reader is the hilarious Who Let the Gods Out? by Maz Evans. Because the children already have such a fantastic knowledge of Greek Gods and constellations, they’ve been picking up on all the hidden jokes and clever references. There has been plenty of laughter during our reading sessions!
