It has been an incredibly busy and exciting fortnight for Year 6! We are delighted to share just how hard the children have been working and how much they have achieved in such a short space of time.
To begin with, we must congratulate Year 6 on their outstanding effort during SATs. The determination, focus, and resilience they showed throughout the week were remarkable. They tackled each paper with a positive mindset and demonstrated exceptional progress. We are immensely proud of every single one of them—well done!
After all that hard work, the class certainly deserved a chance to unwind, and music lessons provided the perfect outlet. Over the past two weeks, the children have been experimenting with becoming conductors, notating a short composition and exploring how changing the pitch can transform its effect. Their creativity and confidence have grown with every session.
In art, Year 6 have taken on the role of designers, analysing and then reinventing food packaging. From fresh fonts to imaginative illustrations, their redesigned products have been both eye-catching and professional—worthy of supermarket shelves!
Our PE lessons have seen the children busily getting to grips with the rules of netball. They now have a much clearer understanding of the positions and which players are allowed in different areas of the court. Their teamwork, tactics and communication have gone from strength to strength.
To round off this eventful fortnight, we have embarked on our new class novel, The Hobbit. The children have been immersing themselves in the world of Middle-earth: mapping Bilbo’s journey, exploring the story’s historical and literary context, and producing some fabulous news reports about mysterious lights seen in the Lonely Mountains. Their imagination and enthusiasm have been a joy to see.
What a productive and enjoyable fortnight it has been! Year 6 continue to impress us with their effort, attitude and creativity. We look forward to seeing where the next chapter of their learning journey takes them.
