4th December 2025
Over the last two weeks, we have been up to lots of exciting things! We have been practising hard in guitar lessons in preparation for our final performance, taking ownership of our investigations in science, and visiting the local church as part of a Halesowen town carol service.
Science has been a fun-filled topic so far creating research pages about Sir Isaac Newton and his discovery of gravity. We also looked at the effects of air resistance by making our own parachutes. We worked together in groups to create some different parachutes and timed to see how long it took for them to fully reach the ground. We discovered that bigger parachutes were more affected by air resistance as they fell at a slower rate.
We have started our new whole class raider called ‘Holes’ about a boy called Stanley who ends up in a juvenile detention centre for something he didn’t do. We have enjoyed researching about Texas (the state where the book is set) and making predictions about how the mysterious trainers fell from the sky and into the hands of Stanley.
We finished Thursday with a visit to the local church for a carol service, enjoyed participating in lots of different songs, as well as listening to children from other local schools complete readings from the Christmas story.
Everyone has been working exceptionally hard during assessment this week and I’m so proud of everyone!
