Year 5 have had a brilliant and very busy couple of weeks, taking part in sports day, the Aspirations Fair and lots of fun learning activities.
Last week we took part in the Aspirations Career Fair, which took place at the Town Hall in Halesowen. Year 5 got to learn about lots of different career opportunities available to them and to meet employers, who provided lots of exciting activities for them to try. Year 5 had a wonderful time! Their behaviour was impeccable and we are very proud of them!
In English we have started our new reading book, ‘Kick’ and we have been learning about children’s rights both around the world and closer to home. We have been researching child labour and finding out why child labour exists, what the statistics are and how child labour can affect people.
In Maths we have been adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators and converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions. As usual Year 5 have been superstars at completing our morning arithmetic activity, practising a range of arithmetic skills such as short and long multiplication, cubing numbers and adding decimals.
In Science we have been learning about rust and designing an investigation into testing whether or not different liquids affect the rusting process. In History we have been learning about the origins of philosophy and learning about Socrates, Plato and Aristotle and how they have shaped our world today.
