Year 4 Blog Post - 13/03/2024

What a brilliant couple of weeks it has been in our classroom! Last week, we fully immersed ourselves in the magic of World Book Day, alongside completing our 'Hinterland' study of Cloudbusting by Malorie Blackman.

Written entirely in verse, this poignant story is set in a school much like Tenterfields—though, sadly, the characters aren’t quite as kind-hearted as our own pupils. We felt very deeply for "Poor Davey" as we explored the text. Beyond our reading, the room was buzzing with creativity as we designed custom book tokens, crafted bookmarks, and put our literary knowledge to the test with some high-energy book quizzes.

What a Friday! Our visit from the Science Magician was a huge hit. 🚀 We didn't just watch—we got hands-on with some incredible experiments:

●      Gravity Defied: We learned the secrets of equilibrium to build "seesaw" inspired towers.

●      The Big Spin: We watched in awe as water stayed put in a spinning bucket (no umbrellas needed!).

●      Blast Off: We finished the day with high-flying rocket launches!

Science has never been so much fun!

Assessment week? Challenge accepted! 💪 We are so impressed by the determination and resilience our class has shown this week. The children have worked tirelessly to showcase everything they’ve learned.

Mrs. Childs is currently working her way through a very tall stack of papers to match their efforts! It’s clear to see that all the hard work this term is paying off in a big way.
