Year 4 Blog - 18/09/2026

16th September 2026

Wow! What a wonderful start to the year. Year 4 have set the bar high and are working really hard to be the best they can be. They are following the ASPIRE values and showing mutual respect for each other. Whether supporting their peers in group tasks or diving eagerly into new lessons, their positivity shines through every day. They take true pride in their work, listen attentively, and tackle challenges with creativity and enthusiasm. It is wonderful seeing them build such a supportive classroom community. We are incredibly proud of their attitude and look forward to an amazing term!

We have also had the chance to think about our aspirations for the future. Here are our hopes and dreams.

We’ve had a fantastic time in English over the last few weeks, and I am excited to see the writing from our next unit. We are using Aunt Spiker and Aunt Sponge from James and the Giant Peach to write about a villain, focusing on rich vocabulary and exaggerated traits. We will also use James to inspire our own brave heroes as we construct engaging character profiles.

In Maths, we are moving on to addition and subtraction. The children will be strengthening their mental calculation strategies and learning formal column methods to tackle multi-digit problems. We will also dive into practical word problems to help them apply these skills to real-world scenarios!
