Year 4 Blog - 16.05.2025

16th May 2025

We’ve had another brilliant couple of weeks full of lots of exciting activities including VE Day, guitar lessons and fun experiments in science!

In English, we have just finished writing and editing our very own biographies about Sir David Attenborough, Taylor Swift and Marcus Rashford. Everyone has thoroughly enjoyed this unit of work and has produced an outstanding double page spread about their person of choice. We did some peer assessment and wrote our partner three stars and a wish about their work. Everyone had lots of positives to share and were very kind and respectful with their feedback which was lovely to see!

In Maths, we have come to the end of our unit on area and perimeter and we are now moving on to look at solving measure and money problems. We will be looking at different units of measure for mass, capacity and length and completing some practical work to see how these different measurements can be used in everyday life.

In science, we have been continuing our work on animals including humans, looking in more detail at human teeth and the effect that sugar can have on them. We have just completed a fun experiment where we put three eggs into three different liquids; water, orange juice and cola. We have been observing the eggs each day to see what happens when they are left in drinks containing different amounts of sugar.

We have been enjoying our coding lessons in computing, looking at making different objects move in different directions. We have really had to put our thinking caps on and be resilient when experimenting with different things. We have also enjoyed showcasing some of our work at the end of each lesson.
