We have had a brilliant start to Year 4! Everyone has quickly learned the rules and routines and has settled in really well.
We learned about democracy in our British Values afternoon, enjoyed Roald Dahl Day and completed lots of fun activities including creating our own characters, taking part in a quiz and guessing each other’s books.
In English we have started our first unit of the year! We are looking at the Disney short film Feast about a dog called Winston who loves food! But one day things change and Winston is not the happy dog he used to be. Everyone has been really engaged with this unit and have thought of some brilliant expanded noun phrases for their own stories.
In Maths we have been looking at place values, finding 10, 100 and 1000 more or less than a given number as well as comparing 4-digit numbers using our inequality symbols.
In Science we have been working scientifically. We planned an investigation to answer the question: Are all metals magnetic? We had great fun with this experiment, working in groups to observe, record and write up our findings.
Lastly, we have started our first whole class reader of the year, James and the Giant Peach. Everyone has thoroughly enjoyed making predictions about what they think will happen and how the peach is going to grow so large!
