Year 4 Blog - 11.04.2025

11th April 2025

I can’t believe we’ve come to the end of another term already! We’ve been enjoying the sunshine and taking part in lots of exciting learning over the last couple of weeks.

In English, we have finished writing a playscript, focusing on a small village in Derbyshire called Eyam in 1665. We have really been challenging ourselves, using lots of new writing features and punctuation in our work and have enjoyed learning some of the historical facts about the plague too!

In Maths, we have finished our topic on decimals. We have been rounding, comparing, multiplying and dividing and have all shown a brilliant understanding of this unit. We can’t wait to look at perimeter and area after Easter and do some experimenting with the geoboards!

In Science, we have been learning all about states of matter. We have learned about the processes of evaporation and condensation and have looked at where these occur in the different stages of the water cycle. We have even set up our very own water cycle in the classroom!

In RE, we have been focussing on Easter and how the Easter story shows us that we should always try to forgive others. We talked about how Jesus was betrayed by one of his disciples and how he still showed forgiveness even when he was put on the cross. We have thought about some everyday scenarios that we could forgive people for as well as looking at others that might be a bit harder to show forgiveness.

In Geography, we have been learning all about natural disasters. Everyone has had so many questions about this topic which shows just how much we have enjoyed it! We finished the unit off by creating some fabulous double-page spreads to showcase all of the knowledge we have learned over the half term.

We have been thoroughly enjoying reading our whole class reader The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe. We have been making predictions at the end of each chapter about what we think will happen next and can’t wait to read more about the amazing adventures of Peter, Edmund, Susan and Lucy.
