Year 4 Blog - 08.11.2024

8th November 2024

What a brilliant first week back! It’s been a busy one! We have enjoyed our Romans Day, had a visit from some of our local fire service team and started lots of new and exciting topics.

In English we have begun to look at the features of a balanced argument, with a focus on whether or not tourists should be allowed to visit national parks. We have looked at some arguments for and against and explored how we have to keep the argument fair by including an equal amount of both.

In Maths, we have been focusing on multiplication, including the Distributive Law. We have looked at how we can multiply a 1-digit number by a 2-digit number using partitioning to break down the question.

In Art, we have finished our unit of telling stories through drawing. We have made a small 8 page book, telling the reader either a poem or a story of our own using a minimal amount of words and using colour to give the reader an idea of what the mood might be.

We have also almost finished our first whole class reader, James and the Giant Peach and have thoroughly enjoyed learning about all the different characters and some of the interesting ways that James likes to get them out of difficult situations, including using thousands of seagulls to make the giant peach float!
