Year 4 Blog - 06.06.2025

6th June 2025

Another wonderful week has flown by in Year 4! We've been having lots of fun in our guitar lessons, getting creative in science, and really putting our problem-solving skills to the test in maths. It's been a busy and brilliant week of learning and laughter for everyone!

This week in English, we've been diving into the exciting world of persuasive writing! We focused on a fantastic product called the "Stroodle," learning all about how to convince others. We talked about the serious effects of plastic pollution on our planet, got creative by using puns effectively in our writing, and even challenged ourselves to include lots of fun alliteration.

In Maths, we've really been putting our problem-solving skills to the test! We tackled some tricky word problems involving measure and money, trying out different combinations to find as many possibilities as we could. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed working in groups for these tasks, and it was brilliant to see such excellent teamwork skills on display!

In Science this week, we've been on an amazing journey through the human digestive system! Working in groups, we had a lot of fun drawing around one of our friends and then carefully labelling their body with all the correct organs. We even learned their scientific names and discussed the important role each organ plays in helping our bodies process food.

We've just started our exciting final whole class reader, 'The Boy At The Back Of The Class' by Onjali Q. Raúf! We've already explored the blurb, discussed some of the main characters, and had an important conversation about what a refugee is. We're only on chapter 3, and everyone is already really enjoying the story and eager to find out what happens next!
