Year 4 Blog - 03.07.2026

3rd July 2026

Respectful, responsible, resilient, creative, compassionate, and courageous—these six core values perfectly sum up our incredible Year 4 residential to Astley Burf. It was an absolute privilege to watch the children step out of their comfort zones, gaining confidence and independence in a brand-new setting.

🌲 Day 1: Woods and Wildlife

Our adventure began with a scenic trek through beautiful Shrawley Woods. The children kept their eyes peeled and spotted goats, llamas, muntjac deer, and plenty of creepy crawlies, even stopping to marvel beneath a giant redwood tree. In the evening, everyone made full use of the fantastic grounds, racing down the zipwire, tackling the adventure playground, and playing pool in the recreation room.

🧗 Day 2: Reaching New Heights

Day two was action-packed and arguably our favourite, featuring climbing, high ropes, and archery. While the target balloons managed to survive the arrows, numerous brave climbers successfully hit the buzzer at the very top of the wall! Most importantly, every single student stretched their limits and did their absolute best. Incredible effort!

⚽ Day 3: Teamwork and Triumphs

Day three was all about teamwork during orienteering. The children successfully cracked the code and even secured a thrilling 1-0 football victory against Manor Way! Unsurprisingly, the coach journey home was a much quieter affair, with several exhausted adventurers catching up on well-deserved sleep. What a spectacular week!
