Year 4 Blog - 02.05.2025

2nd May 2025

What a wonderful first week back! Everyone has settled into the summer term brilliantly.

In English we have started learning all about biographies. We have been looking at their main features, how they are structured as well as discussing how they are different from other genres of writing. We have just begun our sentence stacking lessons, writing all about the life of David Walliams and Roald Dahl. We have learned lots of new and interesting facts along the way so far and can’t wait to research some after people and find out about their lives too!

In Maths we have been learning about how we can calculate the perimeter of 2D shapes. We have been focussing on quadrilaterals and their properties and remembering that opposite sides are equal. Recapping this knowledge has really helped us to progress with our learning! Next week we will be exploring the area of shapes and how we calculate this.

In Science, we have begun our new topic ‘Animals Including Humans’. So far we have learned all about the different types of teeth that humans have and learned an interesting fact about wisdom teeth - they have no function at all! We can’t wait to learn more about food chains and the human digestive system over the next few weeks!

We have been making good progress with our whole class reader ‘The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe’. We have met some more interesting characters including the family of Beavers and the White Witch. We have been making predictions about what we think is going to happen next and are really enjoying the adventures of Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy!
