What a brilliant start to the second half of the term. The children have settled back in brilliantly and have really enjoyed exploring their new topics.
In writing, we are using our knowledge all about the Stone Age to help us write our very own adventure story. We had an experience day to refresh our memory of the Stone Age, looking at what they ate, wore, and where they lived. The children then created their very own research page with all the information they would need to make their writing as realistic as possible. We have been using the Stone Age boy to help guide our writing during our sentence stacking.
In maths, we are developing our multiplication and division skills by exploring all the strategies we can use to help us. The children have begun by exploring the connection between their 2,4, and 8 times tables and how we can create equivalent fractions.
In history, we have been looking at all the inventions of the Industrial Revolution. The children researched the spinning jenny, the locomotive, and the steam engine. The children then chose which invention they thought had been the most important. They then created a fact file all about their chosen invention and debated their reasoning.
In science, we are beginning to explore plants. The children began by going on a hunt to find all the different plants around us. Then, the children looked at the four types of plants and how different features help us to put them into categories
