What a busy two weeks we have had in year 3 exploring graphs, bhangra workshops and using charcoal. The children have been really engaged with their learning and it was great to share how they have settled into year 3 with you all at parents evening.
In our writing lessons we have been continuing our adventure story all about the Secret of Black Rock. The children have loved this story and have shown their creative side. We have explored the creatures of the sea and created fact files all about the different sea creatures. We have then used this to help us with our writing and use lots of detail when we are discussing all the wonderful creatures Black Rock is able to show Erin. We cannot wait to start planning and writing our very own stories after half term.
In maths we have been exploring graphs. We have explored pictograms and practised our skills of interpreting data. We have then gathered our own data to create our very own pictograms. We then explored bar charts and gathered data about our favourite pizza toppings and games before we created our very own bar charts.
In art we have been exploring charcoal. We used charcoal to draw a pepper. Then children then used their skills to smudge and create shading to make our peppers really pop from the page. It was great to see them developing their art skills and use a new medium.
The first half term of year 3 is complete and it has been a busy one. I hope you all have a wonderful half term and have a rest. I will see you all when we get back rested and ready to go I am sure.
