Year 3 Blog - 20.06.2025

19th June 2025

What a great couple of weeks we have had in year 3 dudes and donuts, finishing Akimbo adventures and designing our own robotic pets. The children have worked incredibly hard during our assessment week and should be so proud of themselves. They have shown off all their brilliant skills in all of their papers and made sure they have given it their all. Well done year 3!!! We have also enjoyed the great science share where we have been working with year 4 to explore how we can harness the force of wind. The children then created their very own wind turbine and explored which materials will work best.

In our writing lessons we have designed our very own robotic pet by creating a detailed diagram of our pet and its amazing features. The children have then begun to write an explanation text all about their own robotic pets. They have included its features and the benefits of having a robotic companion. They have also written some warnings and disclaimers of what might happen if you don’t look after your pet properly.

In maths we have been exploring shape. We have explored 2D shapes and their properties. We then became detectives by solving the clues to identify the shape. We then moved onto exploring 3D shapes and how we can use our 2D knowledge to help us identify 3D shapes. The children are really enjoying exploring all the different elements of shape and showing off their incredible knowledge.

Friday was a wonderful day for dudes and donuts the children worked so hard on their performance and it really showed. They have really taken ownership of this performance by coming up with their own actions making sure they fit the lyrics and that everyone was involved. They put on an amazing performance and should be very proud of themselves for all their hard work.
