What an absolute whirlwind of a week it has been! I am bursting with pride as I write this; our Year 2 superstars have shown incredible resilience, focus, and "can-do" attitudes. From serious studying to scientific discoveries, here is a look at what we’ve been up to.
First and foremost, a huge well done to every single child. This week, Year 2 tackled their assessments with such determination. It’s not always easy to sit down and show everything you know, but they worked so hard and truly tried their best. Their growth since the start of the year is clear to see—take a bow, Year 2!
In our core Science lessons, we’ve been investigating a bit of a mystery: Why do some offspring look nothing like their parents? We explored the concept of offspring and focused on animals that undergo big changes. The children chose to research the life cycle of either a butterfly or a frog, and we learnt some amazing facts:
Did you know a caterpillar essentially "digests" itself inside a chrysalis?
Did you know tadpoles breathe through gills before developing lungs?

The excitement didn't stop there because it was also Science Week! The energy across the whole school was electric. We loved exploring all the different projects brought into Tenterfields—the creativity on display was out of this world.
The Highlight: Year 2 got the chance to become teachers! They showcased their own work and taught their friends from other year groups about what they had learnt. Seeing them speak so confidently about their learning was a real treat.

In Design and Technology, our Moving Monsters are finally starting to take shape! This week, we worked on the next phase of the internal mechanisms. There was a lot of measuring, cutting, and perhaps a little bit of sticky tape involved. We are so close to the finish line—we cannot wait to put all the pieces together next week and see them come to life!
