What a wonderful week back after half term in Year 2! We have jumped straight back into things!
This week in writing, we have been working on our No More Marking assessment. We were given a mysterious picture of a dragon and asked to write a story about it! The children’s imaginations really took flight as they described the dragon’s appearance, the setting, and what happened in their exciting stories.
In Maths, we’ve kicked off our new topic on Money. We’ve been learning how to identify coins and notes, as well as understanding their values. The children have been practicing making different amounts using coins and bead strings to solve simple problems involving money. We’ve even had some fun activities where we set up a pretend shop to buy and sell items using play money.
Our Geography topic this term is all about Comparing the United Kingdom and Kenya. We’ve started by learning about the different places, landmarks, and cultures in both countries. The children have been comparing maps, identifying major cities, and discussing the similarities and differences between the UK and Kenya. It’s been fascinating to see their curiosity grow as we explore the world around us!
