This week in Year 2, we’ve been buzzing with excitement as we celebrate Diwali, the beautiful festival of lights celebrated by both Sikhs and Hindus.
In our exploration of Hindu traditions, we have learnt some key facts about Diwali in some of our reading comprehension activities. The children have learnt so much!
This week we have started our new topic of measuring. We started by measuring objects by using paper clips. We decided that using paper clips was not very accurate so we decided to measure the length of objects around our classroom with rulers and metre sticks.
In our Writing lessons this week, we have planned and written our story retell of Jack and the Beanstalk but it has a twist! We had to include Jack’s love for reading books in our stories. Miss Wall was very impressed with our writing.
We have completed our topic of The Great Fire of London, we have all enjoyed it very much, and we can all remember so many interesting facts from the fire in London in 1666.
Another fantastic week in Year 2 and what a lovely end to the first half term. We cannot wait to see what the next half term brings!
