Year 2 Blog - 21.11.2025

20th November 2025

What another busy and brilliant week it has been in Year 2! The festive spirit is building and our learning has been just as exciting as always.

We have been incredibly creative in English, finally finishing our fantastic stories! We took the traditional tale of 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and gave it a brilliant twist: our Jack was obsessed with reading! The children showed wonderful imagination in adapting the story and have produced some excellent final pieces.

Following this, we became designers and journalists to plan and create our very own double page spreads! These amazing pages are all about our exciting experiences and fun adventures at Forest School. We are so proud of how well the children organized their information and illustrated their memories.

Our mathematical journey has continued deep into the world of multiplication and division. This week, we have been focusing on understanding and creating arrays!

The children have absolutely loved exploring this concept, especially getting hands-on with the manipulatives (like counters and cubes) to create their own arrays. This practical exploration is helping to solidify their understanding of equal groups and the link between multiplication and division. Keep practicing those times tables!

In Geography, we have been exploring the fascinating features that make up the world around us. We learned all about the difference between man-made features (things built by people, like bridges and buildings) and natural features (things created by nature, like mountains and rivers).

We had a great time looking at lots of different examples of these features across the United Kingdom, from the rolling hills to the iconic landmarks!

In Design and Technology, we have been working on building a chair for Baby Bear. We explored different shapes to see which would create the strongest base to support the seat. After testing and investigation, we all agreed that a cylinder is the strongest shape! We are now using this knowledge to design and construct Baby Bear's new chair, making sure it is sturdy and won't wobble!

Finally, we have been keeping warm by singing our hearts out during our Nativity song practice! The children have been doing a superb job learning the tunes and words.

The excitement is building because next week we will be finding out our roles and starting to rehearse our lines! We can hardly wait to begin putting the whole performance together.
