We have had a brilliant start to the new school year. The children have settled in brilliantly and have been working very hard. We have enjoyed our R.E. Day all about Christianity where we looked at Jesus showing kindness, and thought about ways that we can show kindness. We have also learnt about the British value of Democracy and we had an amazing Roald Dahl day! We had fun bringing in items for the ‘Guess My Roald Dahl book!’ activity! And the best part of the day was when we got to design our own Roald Dahl book cover on a fabric t-shirt!
In English we have started to write our diary entry all about the Great Fire of London from the perspective of a rat!
In Maths, the children have been learning all about place value and grouping in tens. We have been using dienes and cubes to show how many tens and ones are in a number, and the children have then been choosing a number of their own to partition and represent on a tens frame!
In Science, we have been looking at our Working Scientifically skills such as observing and recording data. Our enquiry question this week was ‘Are two eyes better than one?’ Where we explored rolling and throwing a ball to a partner with and without a blindfold!
Our history topic ‘The Great Fire of London’ has seen us exploring the key information and facts whilst learning the chronology of the key events so we have a clear understanding of the Fire.
