Year 2's Fantastic Start to the New School Year!
What an incredible start we've had in Year 2! The past couple of weeks have flown by, and I'm so incredibly proud of how well everyone has settled in. It's been wonderful getting to know each other, and we've already embarked on so many exciting learning adventures. I can't wait to see all the amazing things this year will bring!
In Maths, we've been busy exploring the fascinating world of place value. We've loved getting hands-on with our learning, using blocks and bead strings to really visualize and understand how numbers are made up. It's been fantastic to see those "aha!" moments as everything clicks into place.
Our History lessons have taken us back in time to 1666, where we've been delving into the Great Fire of London. We've been busy understanding the timeline of events and discovering what London was really like during that period. There's so much more to learn, and we're all very eager to continue our historical journey!
We've transformed into scientists, learning how to work scientifically by completing various experiments and tasks to understand our five senses. Last week, we put our sight to the test to discover if two eyes really are better than one! We had a lot of fun rolling and catching a ball, first with one eye closed, and then with both eyes open. The results were very interesting!
We've already started to fall in love with our whole class reading book, "Fantastic Mr. Fox." We've been exploring the mischievous characters and making some brilliant predictions about what might happen next in the story. It's wonderful to see the children so engaged and excited about reading.
Overall, it has been a truly great couple of weeks in Year 2, and Miss Wall is extremely proud of every single one of you! Keep up the fantastic work, Year 2!
