Year 2 Blog - 10.01.2025

10th January 2025

What a wonderful week it has been! The first week back has been full of energy and enthusiasm. After a nice long break, we made sure to ease into our school routines. We have been working hard, reconnecting with friends, and refreshing our memories of the school rules and expectations. It’s been lovely to see how quickly they’ve all gotten back into the swing of things.

This term, Year 2 are going to explore some exciting new topics! In English this week, Year 2 has been diving into the world of non-chronological reports! These types of reports are all about providing information in a clear, organised way, without having to follow a strict timeline. We’ve been learning all about how to structure these reports and how to include key features that make them informative and engaging.

In Maths this week, Year 2 has been exploring the concept of telling the time, and it's been an exciting journey into understanding how our day is divided into hours and minutes! We have been using mini clocks to help us!

This term, Year 2 has begun an exciting new history unit all about significant individuals in history, and we’re kicking it off by learning about one of the most famous kings in English history—Henry VIII!

We have also been looking at our new whole class reading book ‘The Tale of Peter Rabbit’. We have looked at the cover and the blurb to see what clues we can find to let us know what the story might be about.

We have had a wonderful yet busy, first week back at school, and now we cannot wait to learn more over the next term.
