Year 2 Blog - 06.06.2025

5th June 2025

What a fantastic week it's been in Year 2! We've all settled back into school beautifully and are ready to make the most of our last six weeks together.

This week, we've continued to tackle the exciting world of column addition and subtraction. We've been working hard on understanding the concept, and it's wonderful to see how much progress everyone is making. Those tricky numbers are becoming much clearer, and we're definitely feeling more confident with our calculations!

In writing, we've launched into an incredible new topic: Neil Armstrong! We've been fascinated by the story of the first man on the moon and are busy gathering lots of key facts and information. Soon, we'll be putting on our journalist hats to write our very own question and answer texts all about this incredible explorer. Get ready for some out-of-this-world information!

Our explorer hats were firmly on in science this week as we embarked on a fascinating hunt around the school grounds. Our mission? To discover the different microhabitats we have to offer! We were super careful, gently lifting sticks, leaves, and logs to peek at the tiny worlds beneath, making sure not to disturb any of the amazing insects we found. It was so exciting to see where different creatures like to live!

This week in DT, we've started an exciting new project – planning our very own felt pouches! We're incredibly excited to learn how to use needles and thread to create our own useful pouches. We'll be mastering the running stitch, and we can't wait to see our designs come to life as we sew our very own material creations.

We've had such a great week, full of learning and discovery. We're all looking forward to continuing our adventures and making the most of every moment in Year 2!
