What a fun-filled week we've had in Year 2! We've been busy stretching our imaginations, testing our maths brains, and even launching ourselves into space! 🚀
This week, we put the final touches on our diary entries all about the Great Fire of London! It's been an incredible journey stepping back into 1666 to imagine what it was like to witness the huge fire spreading across the city. We focused on making our writing exciting by using lots of adjectives and thinking about the feelings of the people at the time. We are now history experts! 🔥

Maths has been a little bit tricky this week, but we've shown off our amazing growth mindsets! We've been focussing on bar models, which are super useful pictures that help us see and solve number problems.📏
It was hard at first to understand how to draw them for addition and subtraction, but we kept practising and asking great questions. We've learned so much about how they work, and we are really proud of our new skills! We can't wait for next week when we get to draw our very own bar models to solve problems all by ourselves!
Science has been a blast! We've been looking closely at rockets and what makes them fly. The best part? Building and testing our own rockets! We loved seeing how far and fast they could travel. 🚀

Our experiments taught us a lot, and we're already planning our next steps. Next time, we are going to design a different type of rocket and think carefully about how we can adapt it to make it travel even further. Will a lighter design help? Or maybe different fins? Watch this space!
In Reading, we've continued following the brilliant and clever Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl. We are now on Chapter 13 and things are getting very exciting as Mr Fox tries to outsmart the grumpy farmers, Boggis, Bunce, and Bean!
We're loving reading the story together and really concentrating on answering questions all about what's happening. It helps us prove we are fantastic readers who understand everything that's going on! 🦊
Well done, Year 2, for another wonderful week of hard work and fun! Have a lovely weekend, and we'll be back next week for more exciting learning!
