Year 1 Blog - 07.11.2025

In Year 1 we have had a wonderful week. In Maths we have been looking at our numbers to 20 in different ways, we have made numberlines using cubes in groups of ten and compared numbers using tens frames with our partners.

In Phonics we have been revisiting tricky to remember sounds like ‘ir’ and ‘air’ in set 2 with Miss Gardiner and Miss Corser and working hard to blend our sounds with Mrs Hudson.

In science this week we have used our senses to describe rice krispies but we had to try to use powerful adjectives to make an alien want to buy some from us!

I am very proud this week of how hard year 1 has worked on silent reading in the afternoon. It can be tricky to read in our heads but they are doing amazingly!

Next week we look forward to starting our Geography unit all about our local area, looking at towns, villages and cities!
