🗺️ Year 1’s Whirlwind of Learning: Exploring the World and Our Senses!

What a truly exciting and busy time it has been for our amazing Year 1 children! We have been travelling, investigating, singing, and counting our way through some fantastic new topics.

Here is a glimpse of all the wonderful things we have been getting up to:

• 🌍 World Explorers in Geography: We have been putting on our explorer hats and comparing the differences between urban (city) and rural (countryside) areas. We talked all about tall buildings, busy traffic, green fields, and quiet lanes! We love learning about the world around us.

• 👃 Scientific Superstars: This week, we became brilliant scientists as we started investigating our five senses! We have been using our sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing to explore objects and materials in our classroom. It is amazing how much information our senses give us!

• 🎶 Musical Maestros: In Music, we focused on intonation and how we can use our voices to change the way things sound. The children experimented with singing higher and lower, louder and quieter. We are developing into very expressive performers!

• ✏️ Grammar Detectives: We put on our detective hats to hunt for verbs in our sentences. We learned that verbs are 'doing words' and are essential for telling us what is happening!

• ➕ Super Speedy Maths: In Maths, we continued to build up our super-speedy arithmetic skills. We have been learning brilliant strategies for addition and subtraction using numbers up to 20. These are crucial foundations for all our future counting!

• 🎭 Nativity Excitement: Of course, the festive feeling is building! Nativity preparation is in full swing, and the children are working incredibly hard on their songs and parts. We absolutely cannot wait to showcase their amazing work to you all very soon!

We are so proud of the focus and enthusiasm Year 1 brings to school every single day. The fun never stops!
