4th July 2025
This week in Year 1, we’ve been busy exploring lots of exciting topics! In Maths, we’ve started learning about capacity by investigating different containers and comparing their volumes, using words like full, empty, and half full. In Geography, we discovered that the ocean closest to the United Kingdom is the Atlantic Ocean and enjoyed looking at maps to help us understand where we live. In Whole Class Reading, we finished our text Claude in the City and completed our own book reviews, sharing our thoughts on Claude’s adventures. We also had a fantastic workshop from the Black Country Museum, where we learned about materials and mining, linking brilliantly to our previous History topic. The children were fascinated by what life was like in the past and enjoyed handling different materials and artefacts.
Well done, Year 1, for another fantastic week of learning!
