Wow, what an absolutely incredible week we have had in Reception. From showcasing our athletic skills on the field to performing on a massive stage, our little superstars have filled us with immense pride.
Here is a look back at the highlights of our action-packed week!
The sun was shining, the trainers were laced up, and the energy was electric for our annual Sports Day. The children showed fantastic sportsmanship, determination, and—most importantly—had heaps of fun.
We kicked off the morning with a fast-paced carousel of activities designed to test all of our fundamental movement skills. The children rotated through five brilliant stations:
The Bean Bag Throw: Aiming for the targets with focus and precision.
The Ladder Run: Quick feet! The children showed amazing agility stepping through the rungs.
The Speed Jump: Bouncing like bunnies to see how many jumps they could land.
The Frisbee Throw: Watching those discs fly across the field.
The Shuttle Run: Pure speed and sharp turns as they raced back and forth.
Next up came the main events! The track was set for the classic running races, where the children gave it 100% effort, sprinting toward the finish line with huge smiles.
We also tackled the legendary egg and spoon race. It took a great deal of concentration and steady hands to keep those eggs balanced, but our Reception pupils handled it like absolute pros.
A Huge Thank You to Our Fans! The cheering from the sidelines was absolutely roaring! Thank you to all the parents, carers, and families who came to support. Your waves, high-fives, and loud cheers gave the children a massive boost of confidence.
We know that big events like Sports Day can be overwhelming and tiring for four- and five-year-olds. To make sure everyone could rest and reset, we set up our Regulation Station on the astro.
This was a beautiful, calm space where the children could regulate their sensory systems and catch their breath. Activities included:
Bubbles & Parachute Games: Watching the bubbles drift and working together to make the parachute waves calm and steady.
Pom Poms: A soft, colorful texture to shake out any leftover nervous energy.
Water Play & Sensory Textures: Scooping, pouring, and exploring tactile materials to help soothe and cool down after a busy morning of running.

As if Sports Day wasn't enough excitement, six of our talented Reception pupils represented our school at the spectacular WATaChoir event!
Joined by many other Early Years children from across the trust, our brave performers took to a massive stage to perform the famous Aspire-o-saur dance. Standing in front of a very special audience—which included our school leaders and peers from other schools—can be daunting, but these six children danced their hearts out with rhythm, confidence, and giant smiles.
They were true ambassadors for our school, and we might just have some future performing stars on our hands!
