It has been an incredibly busy week in our classroom! From exploring the great outdoors to mastering the language of math, our little learners have been diving deep into their new projects. Here is a look at what we’ve been up to:
We’ve officially kicked off our new topic on Life Cycles, and what better way to start than with a trip to the school pond? The children were thrilled to spot masses of floating frogspawn just before the Easter holidays and, even more excitingly, tiny tadpoles that had just hatched!
To get a front-row seat to nature’s magic, we have brought a few of those tadpoles back to our classroom. They are now settled into their new fish bowl habitat with additional rocks, pond weeds and logs. We are becoming expert observers as we watch them grow, waiting patiently for those first tiny legs to appear.

In Maths, we’ve been turning into shape detectives. We’ve moved beyond just naming 2D shapes and started investigating their properties using our new "expert" vocabulary:
Sides and Edges
Corners
Straight and Curved lines
The children are now masters at sorting shapes into different groups based on these features. Ask your little one if they can find a shape with curved edges around the house!
In Literacy, we took a close look at the cover of the popular book Oi Frog!. While we love the original, we decided we could give the illustrator a run for their money!
The children tapped into their inner artists to create fantastic new illustrations and even brainstormed original titles for their very own frog-themed storybooks. The creativity was leaping off the page!
