We have had such a fun fortnight in Reception Class!  Last week, we learned about and celebrated the Lunar New Year.  We discovered the story of the Chinese Zodiac and reenacted ir with our own races.  We found out how a Chinese family were preparing for and would be celebrating this festival.  We prepared the classroom by cleaning and decorating it and on the day itself, we found out about the celebrations that had happened in China and Vietnam and held our own Lunar New Year feast. 

This week, we had great fun returning to our topic of ‘Superheroes’ and met some heroes in our community.  First of all, we met the firefighters who showed us their engine, told us about their job and even let us use the fire hose!  We then met a lifeguard who talked to us about her job and taught us about the water safety code to help us to stay safe around water.  We made our own emergency vehicles using loose parts and designed and wrote thank you cards for the people who help us.  Well done, Reception Class!
