Reception Blog - 04.12.2025

4th December 2025

We have had a great couple of weeks learning about penguins and the South Pole through our class text, ‘Lost and Found’.  We found out where the South Pole is and what it is like, whilst thinking about how it would be different living there to living in the United Kingdom.  We learned about different types of penguins and we explored what happened as they were playing on the ice, discovering that ice is slippery and will melt when the air around it is warmer.  We developed our fine motor control by making our own ‘pinch boats’ for the boy and the penguin.  We also enjoyed retelling the story in our own words using story props.  In maths, we learned about measures and we explored capacity, length, height and weight.  We proved ourselves to be super mathematicians!  Well done, Reception Class!
