1st October 2026
We have been busy learning, exploring and having lots of fun together. Here is a little look at what we have been getting up to…
First off, a little flashback to our Bubble Friday from last week, there were lots of smiles, laughter!

In maths this week, we have been exploring making 5. The children have been finding different ways to make 5 and using the maths resources to show how numbers can be composed in different ways.We have also been developing our understanding of length and height, using the words long, longest, tall and short. We even looked at who was the tallest and shortest person in our class!
We have been reading the story ‘Ruby's Worry’, giving us lots of opportunities to talk about our feelings and emotions. We know that to make a worry ‘shrink’, we have to talk to someone about it. We have also started putting our ideas onto paper, writing about our feelings and what makes us happy.

We have also been investigating our five senses and thinking about how our senses help us to explore and understand the world around us. On Wednesday, we carried out a very exciting smell investigation! We used our sense of smell to investigate four different smells: perfume, cinnamon, shower gel and oranges.

Our creative work this week has been inspired by autumn. We have been using beautiful autumn leaves to create our very own hedgehog pictures.

We are incredibly proud of the children's enthusiasm, curiosity and kindness. Well done, Reception, on another fantastic week!
