Celebrating Diwali in Nursery Class

This week in our nursery class, we’ve been buzzing with excitement as we celebrate Diwali, the beautiful festival of lights observed by both Sikhs and Hindus. With the festival just around the corner, our little ones have embraced the festivities with open arms and eager hearts.

The week kicked off with joyful dancing to traditional music, where the children had a fantastic time twirling and moving with vibrant dancing scarves. This not only got their energy flowing but also introduced them to the rich cultural heritage behind the festival.

In our exploration of Hindu traditions, we took part in some hands-on activities that allowed the children to engage deeply with the essence of Diwali. Together, we built our own miniature temples, providing a creative outlet while fostering an appreciation for the significance of these sacred spaces. We also sampled some delicious traditional foods, introducing our taste buds to the flavours of the celebration.

Art and fine motor skills took centre stage as we crafted colourful Rangoli patterns, adding a festive touch to our classroom. This activity encouraged creativity and precision, allowing the children to express themselves artistically while preparing for the joyous occasion.

Another highlight was making playdough Diya lamps. Using colourful clay, the children learned the techniques to shape their own lamps, a symbol of hope and light during Diwali. This hands-on project not only enhanced their fine motor skills but also provided a meaningful connection to the traditions we were celebrating.

As we continue to embrace the spirit of Diwali, our nursery class is filled with laughter, creativity, and a sense of community. We look forward to sharing more of these joyous moments as we celebrate together!

Sorting Fun in Maths Class

This week in our maths learning, we delved into the engaging world of sorting using specific rules. The children had a wonderful time exploring various groups of sorted toys, where they practised their turn-and-talk skills to discuss what they believed the sorting rules were.

During our dedicated maths sessions, the children not only analysed these groups but also got hands-on experience sorting toys based on different prompts. This interactive approach helped them apply their understanding of sorting rules in a fun and engaging way.

The excitement didn’t stop there! During our continuous provision time, the children continued to sort toys independently, reinforcing their skills while having a blast. It’s been a week full of discovery, conversation, and play, as our young learners embrace the foundational concepts of sorting in a lively and collaborative environment.

Celebrating Our First Reading Achievements!

This week marked a special milestone as we awarded our very first reading certificates! 🎉 We couldn’t be prouder of the children for their hard work and dedication to developing their reading skills.

Seeing their excitement as they received their certificates was truly heartwarming. Each child has shown remarkable progress, and this celebration is a testament to their commitment and enthusiasm for reading.

Congratulations to all our young readers! We look forward to watching your love for books continue to grow as we embark on more reading adventures together. Keep up the fantastic work!
