Ahoy, Mateys! A Swashbuckling Adventure in Nursery Class!

What a fantastic few weeks it's been in Nursery Class! We've been sailing the high seas and digging for treasure as we wrapped up our exciting Pirate Topic. The children have truly embraced their inner buccaneers, and it's been a joy to see their creativity and learning flourish.

X Marks the Spot for Fun and Learning!

Our little pirates went all out with pirate dressing up, and the classroom was awash with eye patches, bandanas, and even a few parrots! This imaginative play wasn't just fun; it sparked some incredible learning. We put our drawing skills and cutting and gluing skills to the test by creating our very own pirate treasure maps, complete with "X marks the spot"! It was wonderful to see how carefully they planned their routes and designed their hidden treasures.

We also had a blast practicing prepositional language. Our friendly pirate parrots, along with our beloved class mascot, "POP", helped us explore words like "on," "under," "behind," and "next to." Imagine the giggles as POP hid under the table and the children shouted out where he was! This playful approach really helped solidify their understanding of these important spatial concepts.

Setting Sail into Maths Mastery!

Maths has been just as adventurous! Beyond our prepositional language escapades, we've been solidifying our knowledge of 2D and 3D shapes. During our learning provision, the children have been exploring circles, squares, triangles, cubes, and spheres, identifying them in our classroom and even building with them. It's amazing how quickly they can now spot a sphere or a cuboid!

And for a brand new challenge, we've been mastering the skill of finding the next number. This wasn't about rote memorisation; we made it interactive and engaging! Using various maths manipulatives like counting bears and building blocks, and by playing exciting dice number games, the children have been confidently identifying the number that comes after numbers within 5. It's fantastic to see their confidence grow as they navigate the number line.

We're so proud of all the hard work and enthusiasm our Nursery children have shown during this pirate-themed adventure. They've learned so much, developed new skills, and most importantly, had a treasure chest full of fun!
