Welcome Back! A Splash of Fun in the Nursery

It has been a wonderful first week back at nursery! We hope you all had a relaxing and chocolate-filled Easter break. The children have returned with such high spirits it’s been lovely to see their happy faces, eager and ready to dive back into learning.

A Warm Welcome to Our New Friends

We are also delighted to welcome some new faces to our nursery family this week. Starting nursery is a big milestone, and we are incredibly proud of how our existing children have stepped up. They have been:

Welcoming their new peers with open arms.

     Enjoying making new friendships.

Looking after one another, ensuring everyone feels included and safe.

The settling-in process has gone brilliantly, and the nursery is already buzzing with the sounds of new friendships blossoming.

Our New Topic: Commotion in the Ocean

This term, we are plunging into the deep blue sea with our new theme, "Commotion in the Ocean." This topic is designed to spark curiosity about the incredible creatures that live beneath the waves and the importance of our marine environments.

What We’ve Been Up To:

The children have already begun exploring the wonders of the underwater world through a variety of creative and educational activities:

Starfish and Octopus Decorating: To develop those all-important fine motor skills, the children have been busy decorating their own sea creatures using various textures and materials.

Aspiring Artists: We’ve seen some fantastic drawings of favourite sea creatures, from toothy sharks to glowing jellyfish.

Finger Painting: Things got a little messy (but very fun!) as we used finger painting to create colourful shoals of fish.

Sequencing and Rhymes: We’ve been working on our cognitive skills by sequencing events and practicing our favourite nursery rhymes.

The WATaRhyme

A highlight has been learning the WATaRhyme. This is a fantastic way for the children to develop their rhythm, vocabulary, and memory while having a splashy good time! Ask your little ones if they can perform a bit of it for you at home they are becoming quite the experts.

We are looking forward to another week of underwater adventures!
