πŸ¦‰ Daytime Discoveries and Nighttime Wonders in Nursery! β˜€οΈ

What an incredibly busy, engaging, and enlightening week it has been in Nursery! Our classroom has been buzzing with new words, exciting adventures, and some spectacular creative fun.

πŸŒ™ Embracing the World of Diurnal and Nocturnal β˜€οΈ

This week, we introduced some fantastic new vocabulary: diurnal and nocturnal! The children have shown wonderful curiosity as they've learned about animals active during the day (diurnal) and those that wake up at night (nocturnal).

  • Story Time Magic: We've been captivated by the beautiful book, "The Tale of Two Feathers". This heartwarming story is about a diurnal bird and a nocturnal bird who have never met. It sparked some brilliant conversations and helped us practice our prediction skillsβ€”β€œWhat will happen when they finally meet?” and β€œWill the nocturnal bird be sleepy in the daytime?”

Woodland Explorations: Our outdoor play this week took us into the woodland area. The children were busy exploring, creating, and discussing what makes a good nocturnal habitat. We looked for dark, cozy spots and even imagined what kind of nocturnal creatures might be sleeping or waking up there!

πŸ”’ Diving Deeper into Numbers 🍎

Our mathematical journey is continuing to deepen as we start to focus on individual numbers in more detail.

  • Number One Focus: This week, the star of the show was the number one! The children were brilliant at spotting the numeral 1 around the room and outside. We explored how to represent 'one' in countless ways:

    • Drawing one spot.

    • Finding one stone.

    • Holding up one finger.

    • Building a tower with one block.

    • Writing the numeral 1.

This focused exploration helps to build a strong foundation for understanding number concepts beyond simple counting.

πŸŽ‡ Safety First and Spectacular Prints! 🎨

With Bonfire Night just around the corner, we took some time this week for essential Bonfire Night safety talks. We talked about keeping a safe distance from fireworks and sparklers and what sounds and sights we might see.

●      Creative Fireworks: Inspired by the brilliant colours of the sky, we created our own stunning firework pictures! We developed our printing skills using objects and paint to create fantastic, colourful bursts and streaksβ€”a spectacular way to enjoy the fun.

✨ Look Ahead: Next Week's Adventures!

The excitement continues next week!

●      We will be shifting our mathematical focus to the number two, learning how to recognise and represent it in various creative ways.

●      We'll also be continuing to delve deeper into the world of diurnal and nocturnal animals, perhaps exploring their different diets and sounds!

Thank you, as always, for your support and for helping your children talk about their exciting learning at home!
