The Weekly Forecast: Exploring the Weather! 

What will the weather be? That has been the big question in our classroom this week! The children have dived headfirst into our weather theme, exploring everything from brilliant rainbows to chilly snowstorms through a fantastic range of hands-on activities.

Here is a glimpse into what our mini-meteorologists have been up to:

The Playdough Table this week is proving to be a massive hit, visited by all the children! Everyone was incredibly excited to create their very own interpretation of the weather. We saw some wonderful creativity, including some brilliant rainbows crafted out of colourful pipe cleaners.

Stained-Glass Weather Art. Over at the writing table, the children designed beautiful stained-glass weather crafts. They carefully selected colours that either represented the weather itself or reflected how they feel about different types of weather, which sparked some lovely discussions.

To give our hand-eye coordination a workout, the children used tweezers to pick up fluffy pom-poms and decorate weather templates. It required a great deal of focus to ensure the pom-poms were placed perfectly onto the circles!

Our weather-themed tuff tray offered a brilliant sensory exploration experience. Filled with images of different types of weather, it proved to be a fantastic tool for developing the children's communication and language skills as they described what they could see and feel.

At the maths table, the children worked with rain clouds and raindrops. They did a wonderful job of matching the correct amount of raindrops to the corresponding number written on each cloud.

We have also explored how the weather affects our daily lives by sorting clothes into the correct weather categories. The children showed great knowledge, correctly matching items like shorts for the sun and cosy earmuffs for the snow!

This week has been packed with learning, laughter, and a lot of language development. Thank you to all the children for bringing so much sunshine into the classroom, whatever the weather outside!
