As we wrap up another fantastic term, I wanted to share some of the brilliant things Year 2 have been up to. It has been a whirlwind of creativity, hard work, and—most importantly—lots of fun!
In our Design and Technology (DT) lessons, we have finally finished our moving monsters, and they look absolutely incredible! The classroom has been filled with some very colourful (and slightly scary) creatures.

This project was a real test of our resilience. We used plenty of new skills, including the tricky task of using split pins to create moving joints. It wasn't always easy to get them through the card, but the children stuck at it and the results were wonderful.

In our writing sessions, we’ve started a brand-new topic based on the beautiful book The Building Boy. We are currently deep into our sentence stacking lessons, where we’ve been busy crafting some really sophisticated descriptions.
The children are brimming with ideas, and I know they simply cannot wait to write their own entertaining stories when we return after the Easter holidays!
This week, our focus turned to the Easter story. We were very lucky to visit St John’s Church in Halesowen, where the children explored the Easter journey through a series of interactive stations. Highlights included:
Crown making and crafting palm leaves while shouting "Hosanna!"
Egg scratching (a traditional way to decorate eggs).
Reflecting during the washing of hands and the Last Supper stations.
It was a wonderful way to bring our RE learning to life in such a historic local setting.

Year 2 have had another amazing term filled with teamwork, resilience, and focus. I am incredibly proud of each and every one of them for how hard they have worked. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter holiday. Make sure to get plenty of rest, and I look forward to seeing everyone back and ready for our final term of Year 2!
Happy Easter, everyone! 🐰🌷
