Weekly Wonders: Our Nursery Update!

What a whirlwind of creativity and discovery we’ve had recently! From the huffing and puffing of fairy tales to the "egg-citing" arrival of Spring, the children have been incredibly busy. Here is a look at what we’ve been up to:

Our journey with The Three Little Pigs has been a massive success. It has been wonderful to hear the children’s voices filling the room as they confidently join in with the repeated phrases. Their ability to retell the story in their own words shows just how much their language skills are blossoming.

We took The Three Little Pigs learning even further by architectural exploration. We experimented with different materials to see which would make the strongest houses and we shared news all about our own lovely homes, whom we live with, and exactly what makes our families so special to us.

In our maths sessions, we’ve been "filling up" our brains with the concept of capacity. Through plenty of water play and exploration with different containers, the children have mastered new vocabulary, including: Full and Empty, Nearly full and Nearly empty. It’s been a joy to watch them predict how much "stuff" a container can hold and then test their theories!

As we wave goodbye to the pigs, we are hopping straight into the wonders of Easter. There is a real buzz in the air as we begin to explore the Christian faith and the Easter story. We have learnt all about the last super and recreated the event using hot cross buns and red coloured juice which the children really enjoyed.

We have been so busy exploring everything Easter. We are working together to decorate a giant Easter egg using a variety of "treasures" and textures and don’t be surprised if you see some long ears wandering around! The children have loved dressing up as the Easter Bunny.

We will be embracing all the joy, colour, and new life that the season brings and are already to have a visit from the Easter Bunny himself over the Easter break.

A Note from the Team: We are so proud of how well the children are engaging with their learning. Their confidence is growing every day, and their enthusiasm for the Easter story is truly infectious!
