Nursery Blog Post - 27.02.2026

26th February 2026

What a fantastic first week back after half term in Nursery! The children returned full of energy, smiles, and lots of stories to share with their friends.

Our focus story this week has been Little Red Riding Hood. The children are absolutely loving it. They have talked about the different characters, and shared our ideas about what might happen next in the story. The sneaky wolf was a big favourite, and the children enjoyed describing him using words like big, furry, sharp teeth, and pointy ears. We have been exploring different parts of a book, learning about the title, author, illustrator, and blurb. The children enjoyed pointing to each part and talking about what they do.

In Maths, we explored the number 6 this week. The children have practised counting different objects carefully and have also proudly showed off their counting skills. We built towers, counted toys, and went on a little “I spy 6” hunt around the classroom. Who knew maths could be so fun?

This week we have spent some time revisiting our Rainbow Rules. We love singing our Rainbow Rules song and we have practiced it in lots of different voices—fast, slow, loud, and quiet. This caused lots of giggles! You can just imagine. We have talked about what makes us feel happy at school and how our rules help everyone feel safe and kind.

Our nursery transformed into a global village, celebrating International Mother Language Day. It was a sensory feast of colours, sounds, and stories. Watching our "Little Linguists" explore their heritage with such pride was lovely to see.

It has been such a lovely week this week, and we are so proud of how well the children have settled back into Nursery routines. We can’t wait for another fun week of learning ahead!
